While installing the hidden hitch on my 2002 Honda Civic I came up with a really easy way to get the bolt and flat metal piece through the frame rail. This was a bit tricky for me at first but using this method here you can install both bolts in a matter of minutes.

  • Nice! thanks for the vid, man. I wish there were more details. I guess I'll just go check out other vids.

  • There's not much else to it. You bolt up those two I showed and one more u-bolt on the tow hook and you are done. The hardest part is threading those metal pieces through the frame. ;)

  • @boggse What is the towing capacity of a 2002 Honda Civic. I have an EX. I can't find much of any info on it. I want to get a small 4x6 enclosed trailer to haul my music gear in (PA speakers and stuff). What's the most you've towed (weight and size) and how does your vehicle handle pulling it? Let me know as soon as you can. Thank you very much for your help!

  • @kazeolkatt @kazeolkatt It's limited to 1100lbs but that info was from an AU website. Google search for 'towing weight limit honda civic 2002' and check the first link. You will have to take account what is loaded in the car. If you have a car full of people and a trunk full of gear I would imaging you probably wouldn't want to tow anything. Every time I tow with the civic it's empty except for me. I towed a couch and my jetski.

  • @boggse How much would you say your jet ski weighs? How much does your trailer weigh? Does the car drive fine when you tow that stuff, or does it feel like it's struggling/weighed down?

  • @kazeolkatt It's really hard to say since it was such an old ski. If I had to guess I would say around 400-600lbs for the ski and maybe 100 for the trailer not including gas and such. It was a pretty small ski compared to some of the newer ones out now. It was a 1993 Kawasaki JET SKI® Super Sport Xi. The car felt and drove fine with it on there.

  • Thanks for the tips i just installed a resse hitch on my honda civic 2005 the string trick works well and we did it thanks for the video

  • Nice video bro. I have a 04 civic SI. And I want to install a tow hitch on it to tow a small trailer with my dirt bike on top of the trailer. I would say I will be towing a total of roughly 350lbs. 200lbs for the dirt bike and about 100-150lbs for the aluminum motorcycle uhual trailer. and of course me.

From your experience, would I be able to tow this much weight with out much difficulty???

  • Nice Work, very clever move with the string!!

  • nice! exactly what i was looking for. I just wish we didn't have to drill that large hole :(
