This test proves once more that Windows 7 comes with better GPU drivers, as it is proven to be 50% faster than anything that Linux has to offer while running on the same hardware.

System Specifications:

Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 @ 2.10 GHz
Intel GM 965 (X3100) Graphics
3 GB of RAM

Software used:

Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit
Linux Mint 12 32 bit
Mozilla Firefox 9.0.1

NOTICE: This test was done on the same hardware as the hoax videos that were uploaded by user/powerpenguin1 "powerpenguin1". Videos on his channel are obsolete and irrelevant since he did not enable hardware acceleration on Firefox on Windows, while enabled it on Linux.

An additional video has been uploaded by another user that further exposes this troll as a liar:

  • funny, i ran this same benchmark on my dual boot machine ubuntu 11.04 vs win 7 and ubuntu pwned....just sayin ;)

  • @miasmablk Fake, prove it.

  • @lienucksfails2 k, IF you'll allow a video reponse i'll post one later after school tonight... im on my phone right now.

  • @miasmablk Let's see it. On Windows 7 make sure to use IE9 :)

And if you want to use Firefox on Windows; be sure to show the "about:config" menu, your video card might be blacklisted by mozilla.

  • @lienucksfails2 ah it seems that my card is blacklisted (intel GM45) didn't think of that..however firefox in linux still puts up a pretty good fight vs ie9 in win7

linux im getting about 54 - 58 fps

win 7 ie9 i get around the same maybe slighty higher 55-60 avg?

    set at 1000 x 500 with 250 (fish)

  • @miasmablk I knew it. Your hardware (Intel GM45) is blacklisted by default on Firefox on Windows, but there is an easy way to enable it, just follow this video:

    watch?v=svvwT3ucMzc

    Next

    1) Disable Aero/Desktop Composition/and Effects on Windows 7

    2) Run Firefox with 1000x500 @ 500 Fish

You'll see it being a lot faster than Lunix.

Disabling Aero on Windows improves Firefox's performance by 10+ FPS.

  • @lienucksfails2 cool, i'll check it out. i already had windows set to 'performance' though.

  • @SwiftHDX no it's 150%

    22/100x150% = 33 FPS not %

  • @DancingMadRB3 99% of consumer level hardware (What you find and buy in stores) is better supported on Windows, hence, runs much faster.

  • @TheOz1999 On this same setup? (T8100 / 965 GM)?
