Today, the Joint Economic Committee released a report entitled, "Comprehensive Health Insurance Reform: An Essential Prescription for Women" and held a press conference to discuss how health insurance reform will impact women.
The status-quo health insurance system is serving women poorly. An estimated 64 million women lack adequate health insurance. Over half of all medical bankruptcies are filed by female-headed households. For too many women and their families today, quality, affordable health care is out of reach. Women are more vulnerable to high health care costs than men. Several factors explain why. First, womens health needs differ from mens, so women are obliged to interact more regularly with the health care system regardless of whether they have adequate insurance coverage or not. Second, women are more likely to be economically vulnerable and therefore face devastating consequences when faced with a mounting pile of medical bills. The inability of the current system to adequately serve womens health care needs has come at great expense. One recent study estimates that womens chronic disease conditions cost hundreds of billions of dollars.

There is no rationing of medical care in countries where there is universal health care. The whole rationing idea is a health insurance company lie. Those people will say anything to scare people just so they can hang onto a few more dollars!

torte reform is not law in most states that is a lie, just like this president. Actually it is law in only a couple of states so your facts are skewed and this reform bill will definately bring more rationing, cost taxpayers trillions of dollars and will still leave many without insurance this bill stinks .

Your facts are skewed. Medical malpractice only accounts for less than 1% of the income of the medical industry. However, the health industry causes the 3rd highest death rate in the U.S. from mistakes, unnecessary surgeries and other mismanagement. Tort reform already exists in most states taking the rights away from the citizens and allowing doctors and hospitals to kill and maim people for free.

Screw this. The best health care reform is getting women OUT of the work place to be stay-at-home moms to care for their legitimate children and pumping up dad's income to meet today's inflation rate.
That is healthy. Yes folks, we need to get back to the 1950's and the last 5,000+ years that have taught us what common sense is.
What we have now is fowl smelling crap!

no it is because my brother is a doctor and the medical profession acts like the diamond industry. There are many medical students not allowed into medical schools. in that way they hamper doctors, also the old doctors had to diagnose now there are tests that are o expensive doctors cant pay for them and insurance companies wont pay for them. I am not for the current healthcare bill, I am for changing the old boy type medical profession.
