One of the most important components of health care delivery is not being discussed because it would alienate voter support. That is, the patient's own personal responsibility for their health. Smoking, bad diets, and lack of exercise = BILLIONS in preventable healthcare costs that burdens everyone. Health care is not a "right". It is a "responsibility". And it is not the government's responsibility. It is your OWN responsibility.
Obama says it won't cost taxpayers at all. It's to be paid 100% from insurance premiums, like a non-profit provider. If it's really that simple, private non-profit insurers (there are many) would have already brought prices down. The problem is more complex. We hear lots of sound bites to try and get votes/support, but precious little about the actual REASONS for high health costs. I just don't think nationalization of whole industries is the right path for America.
Re: REASONS, here is an example.
