That's been the hurdle for lithium battery powered cars..until now. The batteries in the volt are a brand new chemistry that doesn't do that. This battery is completely new, and is supposed to retain 80% of its capacity after 10 years, after which it will still be good for other things like UPS backup power. By then there will be better batteries, swap out and keep driving even farther with more power.

electric cars are able to apply maximum torque immediately and can beat most any gasoline cars off of the line

Why should people be interested in supporting scatterbrained GM on this project (Volt) when they had a perfectly good idea and destroyed the EV1s which everyone loved, even though those cars were far from perfect. I trust GM about as far as I can spit on them.

YeahXD it may goes around 40 mile son a single charge but.. it goes at 1 mph XD
