So are they using the dad as a metaphor for God and the child as a metaphor for us? God teaching us line upon line, precept upon precept, then being there to help us when we fall. He especially did this by letting Christ go through the Atonement for our sins, sicknesses, sufferings, pains, temptations, even our trials. What other metaphors have you found for this song?
