Nellis Air Force Base, in Nevada, is part of an initiative that aims to cut the US military's energy consumption, replacing some of the oil it uses with renewable fuels.
But the transition, which is mandated by federal law, is not without its critics.
Al Jazeera's Rosiland Jordan reports from Nevada.

Astonishing thing is not that Chinese are richest on planet. Whats astonishing is how quickly they became rich. Most Chinese went from Cycle to Car. There was no stage in between.

Typical American leadership. Calling green energy waste of resources. Someone needs to educate them.

You are funny. Free market means everyone has a choice. If you think that's slavery, walk away. The US has food stamps and rent subsidies, or prisons. The rich is always minority because there can be so many winners in a game. Poor is always minority because this disparity game is comparative. I just can't see this system is exploitive in any ways.

Yeah the market is free to exploit and enslave people, but if their not American their lives mean nothing right? there is a rich minority while the majority are poor. Imperialism has made America the richest nation in the world.

Lol. The US has one of the lowest tax rate in the developed world and the US is also one of the freeest market in the world. People are responsible for their fortune and that's what made the US richer than anyone else on earth. But unfortunately, that will also mean losers will lose even more.

The why do so many Americans live under the poverty line? How come you have to die if you can't afford health insurance? The only terrorists that need fighting are the US government.

The output from the big bang was was way bigger than the output of our Sun. We have to be realistic here.

Fossil fuels are used mostly in transportation vehicles.

If you take all the known lithium reserves - there would be less than a kilo per person. Hydrogen is way too costly to store. There's no alternative to replace about 1 billion vehicles from fossiles available at this moment.

Not really. In fact, EU military spending has been rising ever since the union formed two decades ago. If you don't care, why you bother to response to me?

No, the european strategy would be: we just give in. USA could destroy the whole planet, so could china, so could russia. If we could get the UK and France to agree Europe could destroy the world, But they wont agree and they cant do it because the european idea is stronger. In Europe, the military will get cheaper and unified, and the money will gradually get more and more diverted to other tasks. The navy could flatten us, or the air force or the army, all of europe, so WHY CARE?
