It isn't gelatine but apparently if you boil agar agar for 3 minutes it will set like gelatine. I haven't tried it though.

Interesting recipe. Never knew how it was made. Figured corn syrup and high fructose syrup mixed with sugar. That is the store bought ones. Surely the homemade ones tastes better...bc I don't care for store bought ones...too icky sweet...makes me ill. I used to love marshmellows as a kid. Guess the corporate companies used a different recipe back then...now everything is high fructose syrup bc its *CHEAP*.

Home made ones taste awesome compared to store bought. I can't stand the store bought ones any more.

I respectfully disagree! You sound like such fun! I think a lot of people come to expect the methed-out, overly enthusiastic TV personalities when it comes to cooking tutorials or shows. It's pretty obvious you love food and thoroughly enjoy your craft. This video is a welcomed departure from the shows I see on Food Network. For me, acting shouldn't precede the focus on craftsmanship. Your directions are clear and succinct and the execution of your recipes are superb. Thanks so much for sharing!

I am not a vegetarian, I just found out a couple of months ago that gelatin is an animal product. Anyway I like that you added that statement to inform those who are vegetarian. Very thoughtful!

Exactly my thoughts. TheVintageKitchen is a refreshing and welcomed departure from obnoxious Food TV crap.

be careful with agar it sets more brittle than gelatine and doesn't really have a wiggle
