Meine Top Fünf sind:
1. Regensburg
2. Nürnberg
3. Rothenburg ob der Tauber
4. Dinkelsbühl
5. München
... Ja ich weiß, dass diese Städte alle in Bayern sind ;-)

Rothenburg isnt "rebuild"! Germany is no Disney Land, where we germans rebuild the middle age for american tourists. Its a usual city!

Oh, one last advice about car driving in Germany.
You HAVE to fasten your safety belts while being in a moving car, all passengers have to, children under 12 of age have to sit on a special safety seat if they shorter than 4ft10.
German police officers are VERY finicky about that...

11. People who studied German language and have a taste for comedy might visit shows by Helge Schneider (jazz music and dadaistic storytelling, absolutely brilliant stuff), Volker Pispers or Hagen Rether (political cabaret, very dark cynism), Serdar Semuncu (born in Turkey, but of German nationality, politically incorrect, but very intelligent stand up comedy making fun of everything and everybody) and many more. Check some yt clips on these people and take a choice.

10. In big cities in Germany, like in all big cities, there are some places, you might not like to visit alone. Once more I´d like to suggest to make local friends first, before exploring on your own. Don´t be afraid though, compared to many big cities in the US, crime rates are relatively low, even in big cities. "911" is 112.

9. Even though Germany is about the size of Montana, there are many regional or even local dialects, that differ a lot. If you learned German at school and liked it, try to test your skills in Köln (Cologne), rural parts of Bavaria, villages outside big cities at the coast up north or Sachsen-Anhalt (federal state, part of former East Germany). "Official" German is understood everywhere, but you really might not understand some people, especially in rural regions with little tourism.
i love Berlin, its just unbelievable there. i live in Münster(kleine süße Stadt in westfahlen) but Münster is nothing against Berlin :D

Well, I am German and here are my Top 5 German cities to visit:
1.Berlin
2."Ruhrgebiet"(actually that´s a region of many cities growing together...the only megacity in Germany)
3.Hamburg (Yes,home of hamburgers,just deal with it,yankees..)
4.Cologne (about 50km south of Ruhrgebiet, especially at "Karneval":more drunk people than at the Oktoberfest in Munich and they´re dressed up too.)
5.Munich (only at "Oktoberfest" as the city is beautiful but pretty much sucks when you´re not drunk...)
