In 1975, the Silanskas family of Newark, Delaware pioneered christian television with little experience and a prayer. Within 3 years, they had established the Jesus Is Lord TV Network and were broadcasting 24 hours per day to the Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania region. Their story is inspirational and led to an incredible journey some 30 years later. A part of this story was told in the book "UNSHAKABLE" by "Paula Felps".

  • Very Interesting story, most Independent stations are gone now, such as channel 38 in Chicago, Kansas city, and Decatur Il all sold.wtjr here in Quincy il is now CTN but we survived PTL, JW

  • this is where it started, now they want to shove this down everyones throat.. and they want to make this a christian only country..

  • This series includes all of the mentioned TV ministers. The tags help bring people to these videos that are interested in similar stories. Sorry for the confusion.

  • That is interesting. I was just commenting that the user altair6films used so many tags, such as 'PTL', 'Bakker' & so forth, none of which were mentioned in the video, or mentioned in the info description.

No one else (who hasn't "lived the story") would have ever known the correlation as you had just described.

  • Having lived this story... It actually does. Jesus is Lord TV was the first station to bring all of these programs to the Delaware Valley. In 1980, PTL made a business decision to no longer give the smaller stations a portion of the donations received from their program which is how stations like JIL were paid to air the show. This greatly effected the stations ability to survive. In 1981, Pat Robertson took over the station and it became a a part of the CBN family.

  • Interesting video, although it has nothing to do with PTL, the 700 Cub, Jim Bakker, Pat Robertson, or either Oral & Richard Roberts
