http://SpringfieldVermontBlog.com The Comtu Falls in Springfield Vermont was raging Sunday afternoon after the leading bands of hurricane Irene passed through. The water was moving so fast and furious that it was dizzying to look down.

Springfield was quite fortunate. While many of the other towns in southern Vermont were flooded, Springfield was not. In at least one town in Vermont, rescue workers went door-to-door telling people to evacuate.

This video shows the rage and fury of rushing waters but Springfield residents are relieved the river didn't rise to street level.

(NOTE: This video is very popular and is being ripped off repeatedly and faster than Google removes them for copyright infringement. If the video isn't posted by username springfieldvt then it isn't the real one. Don't be fooled by the other ones which may try to get you to click on links or visit inappropriate websites. Although they were reported days ago, there is still a theft of this video that was uploaded by "terrists1" as well as the video titled "Hurricane Irene Springfield Vermont Massive Swollen Raging Rivers" uploaded by iWatchUCam.

You' can also see portions of this video stolen and even inserted into other videos. Some may claim "Fair Use", but it's NOT fair use. Their "Fair Use" paragraph says "Such material is made available to advance understanding of ecological, political, human rights, economic, democracy, scientific, moral, ethical, and social justice issues, etc." DON'T BE FOOLED. That's just how they're disguising their theft. A big national news event gets lots of video views, so it's many people try to drive visitors to their own YouTube channel by stealing other people's video (or portions of it)... just so they can increase traffic to their own YouTube page.

The ONLY entity that has permission to use some of this Springfield Vermont video is the Burlington Free Press.

If you'd like to see what the upper portion of the falls looked like four days prior to hurricane Irene, check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnIB-riZIcQ

  • @razsekeles This is the Comptu Falls a series of five waterfalls just on volume overload. The banks are high in an industrial town. Further down stream there was some flooding no danger though. Thanks for caring.

  • Good to hear from y'all. I'm glad the old gear factory survived -- I was afraid it would be wiped away. Best wishes to all Vermont.

  • It's a good thing Springding escaped pretty much unscathed. I guess the same can't be said of surrounding towns. :(
