that's awesome you're doing this. Thank you, and im more likely to purchase items or parts from you in the future for your honesty.

How long? How about until it wont burn your skin. If you live in the desert sun, it will take longer to cool.
Cold weather it will cool faster. Is that a novel thought or what lol !

how long should you wait until the exhaust pipe is cold enough that you don't burn the skin off your arm?

Thanks. I appreciate your videos, I just purchased a 1993 Ford Taurus. I'm Pretty much done with a tune-up after watching your videos, a few other peoples, and working on it myself.

I've seen videos done with people using old oil on the oil filter gasket, and with new oil on the gasket. Which method do you recommend, and why? Thank you!

@dbflyboy917 It doesn't really matter. The oil is used to help keep the new gasket on the filter from sticking to the block the next time you remove it. Either way is fine.

Wow, it didn't even leak all over the exhaust? I have a 2000 DOHC model Taurus. Dumb oil filter location, leaks down all over the exhaust and subframe on removal at a 45 degree angle. Wish I knew how to deal with that so I don't have a smokey car on startup.

@Duratec86 Change your oil when engine is cold and put some plastic wrap over the exhaust. Be sure to remove it afterward.

@1aauto That's not a bad idea. I'm guessing something like cling-wrap will do? Oh yes, I will definitely remove before startup...don't need additional smells entering the vehicle. Thanks.

@Duratec86 Yeah that is what I had in mind.
