I live close to OSU Stillwater, OK. They leased some secluded properties for hunting at one time. While there once I encountered a ,"woodpecker", with a wing span comparable to that of a 10yr old child's outreached arms. I froze and was elated and grateful. Magnificent

I just watched this one tonight. Great documentary. I fall into the skeptics category, I am afraid. Would be great if it was alive, but I think they're seeing the other woodpecker mentioned in the film.

I think I just saw one fly across my back yard. It could have been the Cuban one, I guess. I'm no bird expert, but it was gigantic and had a red head with a mostly black body with white on it It was about 2 feet long and another bird was chasing it, like a Mockingbird or something smaller. I live in a marshland area in central Florida - Southern Brevard County.
