This is good if your opponents hips are high.Im not sure if its that effective with hips low and tight.I'll try it out

It's good to have options though, you might have 1 or 2 reliable techniques to escape side control but it's always better to have 1 or 2 more that you could use when those 2 don't work.

@swarmis Thing in Hapkido when teach from ground I can pull some locks from that position when he does that exposing hit arm is that way. It is something you have to work on and that is very true. The reason some will do agree to disagree is they may not have tryed to see if that is true or they have not really been exposed to that way of thinking. It is like being more enlighted but many do know from a to z, there is alot that have a lot more space between a to z. Thanks

@TechniquePrevails I was going to say tell Pedro Sauer that too! He does this to EVERYONE, White to Black belt!

Damn, this would have really helped me in class today lol I'm still a white belt.

@TechniquePrevails I have an amateur cage match this weekend and I thought "Hmm, normally this would only be an escape if your opponent already got your arm over to that side and you needed to counter him, but this would be a good thing for fighting because you're not opening any space for strikes like a normal escape", so I would have to agree with the author on this one.
Exposing that right arm is a bad habbit, and any advanced guy is gonna trap that arm and go to arm bar. This is a power move that works on low level guys, but not smart when grappling a black belt.

Someone forgot to tell GrandMaster Pedro Sauer that... I agree it's not a great habit- but simply only learning to bury that arm in a cross face or across the neck isn't a good habit either. Especially in MMA where it's pretty essential to control the posture at times to weather an attack.

@TechniquePrevails The problem I see is that if the guy bases out, and your roll doesn't work, that right arm is in a bad spot. Better to have both hands in, bump with the hips and replace rather than rolling the dice with a power move that may not work. I disagree with your mma comment also, from the side control you dont wanna give your arm away and have only one to protect your face with.

@swarmis I guess we'll just agree to disagree. I'm not saying this is the exact hand placement I go to every time- but I find it equally ignorant to not have any options from here....
However- as I always I encourage you (and everyone, not picking on you) to practice what works for them and to pass on what doesn't.
