@tobin00 That's absolutely true! But not in the way you mean. In the game, stalkers actually do sit by campfires (or lie down if they're hitting the sack...oh wait, that doesn't mean what it used to mean either!) and talk about adventures and stuff (which some might philosophically interpret as the "meaning of life" or "becoming a man" or whatnot). Becoming a man, in the Zone, means achieving self-liberation. Which is, of course, what being a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is all about.

STALKER weapons are much better than HL2. That pistol shown as you say "pop pop" is a PB 6P9 which has a sound suppressor (hence the reduced sound). Also, STALKER is a game where you really need to use your iron sights. You can't play it like Half-Life or Doom (or PO'ed or Redneck Rampage or whatnot) and expect to be successful. Also, you probably played v1.0 which was admittedly flawed. Back in '07, it was patched several times (up to v1.0005 as per '07).

@mamba5445 Fallout 3 doesn't have iron sights be default. STALKER does. F3 needs an iron sight mod to be reasonably playable. New Vegas corrects this. I'd almost say New Vegas is the American STALKER except it's more of an RPS like Borderlands. STALKER's RPG elements don't detract from its FPSness. At least 'Shadow of Chernobyl'. Clear Sky and CoP have more RPGishness (like altering weapon stats).

@120Vanquish120 You must have gotten a non-patched or not up-to-date version. If you're playing vanilla ShoC, be sure it's v1.0005 or better (I think v1.0006 is the most recent). To extend the game's replay value, try a mod (Oblivion Lost 2010 is definately recommended). A lot of mods improve weapons and gameplay AND increase the number of NPC spawns (enemy, friendly, and monster alike).

@Buzzap14 If you get the Atlas Spawn mod for STALKER (which exists for all STALKER games), or if it's merged with any mod you happen to have, you CAN create action movie-esque scenarios. Think 'Aliens' but with a horde of pseudogiants instead of xenomorphs. Or those hilarious radioactive fleshpigs (which are actually a legit enemy, not weaklings, especially in mods like Oblivion Lost).
