John Mills plays his own arrangement of Suite BWV 1007. The first and perhaps lightest of Bach's magnificent six suites for unaccompanied 'cello, this work is nevertheless a superb example of the composer's skills. On the guitar, much of Bach's implied voicing can be realised by means of holding notes, and the use of sparse and carefully- considered additional bass lines. After the opening free-ranging Prelude, there are a series of five dances; Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Minuets 1 & 2, and finally a rather lively Gigue. Recorded on the 27th February 2010 in the Chapel of St Lawrence, Ashburton, Devon. John is playing a 2005 Simon Ambridge guitar kindly loaned for the recital by Will Browne.

Yes and also a nightmare sometimes for electric players. The summer of 1995 in the recording studio was a major headache for me, whereas normally I never had any problems with tuning.

@EgoShredder Common problem with nylon guitars: slightest temperature change requires retunig.

Fabulous rendition of Bach but I wonder if the hot summer weather was affecting his tuning?
