Redbone - one of the first Native-American rock bands.
Taking its name from a Cajun epithet for "half-breed," Redbone boasted members of such Native American tribes as Cherokee, Yaqui, Apache, and Shoshone. Remembered primarily as the first commercially successful American Indian rock group, the band attained brief success in the early 1970s for two bona fide pop singles, "Witch Queen of New Orleans" and "Come and Get Your Love..... read more here

"Come and Get Your Love" 1974, #5 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Come and Get Your Love", written by Lolly Vasquez stayed in the Billboard chart for 24 weeks, and was awarded a gold disc by the R.I.A.A. on 22 April 1974. "Come and Get Your Love" was the most commercial -- and least Indian -- of all the Redbone recordings. Their strained vocals were perfectly suited to the song, which was cast in a Marvin Gaye mold. The single took off in January 1974, and on April 22 was certified a million-seller.

Hey (hey) What's the matter with your head? yeah...
Hey (hey) What's the matter with your mind and your sign?
And-a ooh-ohh
Hey (hey) Nothin's a matter with your head, baby, find it
Come on and find it
Hell, with it, baby, 'cause you're fine and you're mine
And you look so divine

Come and get your love
Come and get your love
Come and get your love
Come and get your love

Hey (hey) What's the matter with your feel right?
Don't you feel right, baby?
Hey, oh, yeah, get it from the main line, alright
I said-a find it, find it, darling, love it
If you like it, yeah-eh
Hey (hey) It's your business if you want some
Take some, get it together, baby

Come and get your love
Come and get your love
Come and get your love
Come and get your love

Come and get your love, come and get your love
Come and get your love, now
Come and get your love, come and get your love
Come and get your love, now
Come and get your love, come and get your love
Come and get your love, now
Come and get your love, come and get your love
Come and get your love, now

Come and get your love
Come and get your love
Come and get your love
Come and get your love

Hey (hey) What's the matter with your feel right?
Don't you feel right, baby?
Hey, oh, yeah, get it from the main vine, alright

La,la,la,la,la,la, (come and get your love)
La,la,la,la,la,la, (come and get your love)
La,la,la,la,la,la, (come and get your love)
La,la,la,la,la,la, (come and get your love)
La,la.la,la,la,la,la,la,la (come and get your love)
La,la.la,la,la,la,la,la,la (come and get your love)
La,la.la,la,la,la, (come and get

  • @mariabbb1964 So sorry it has taken so long to respond...just saw the button to click on. Well, now let's see, probably around 1974ish when I was so in love with my second husband. My grandmother's grandfather was a Cherokee Chief, she said. He used to come through Gallatin, swoop her up on his horse on his way into the county fair. She was about 5, I think, when that happened.

  • Redbone was one of the defining groups of the '70s with this one song.

  • Wow!!! I remember this song.

  • AWESOME SONG FROM MY CHILDHOOD!! I LOVE IT SO MUCH.

  • CUT!!

  • such a happy song

  • This song is so refreshing and soothing to enjoy!

  • One of the catchiest songs of the 1970s! Can't help but be drawn into the lyrics and beat each time I hear it!
