Rajesh Khanna - Bombay Superstar - 1 of 9

Background :
2009 marked the 40th anniversary of the release of two landmark movies in the annuals of Hindi Film History - 'Aradhana' & 'Do Raaste'. The leading actor went on to become the very first & best Superstar Hindi Cinema has ever produced - Rajesh Khanna.

Unfortunately, his place in history seems to have been overshadowed in recent years & my aim in sharing this documentary is to, hopefully, show the Hindi Film Fan worldwide just what all the fuss was about.

Description :
Part 1 of 9, this documentary was broadcast as part the 'Man Alive' series on BBC 2 in 1973. Later repeated in 1982 & as part of the 'Festival of India' that took place that summer in the UK.

This is from a 2nd generation VHS copy that I converted to divx etc. & later cleaned up with the help of Mister Naidu (of Helen DVDs fame - www.misternaidu.blogspot.com).

Yes, I also feel very sorry for how the current film fraternity is treating him. I wish more big banners like Yash Chopra or Subash Ghai would have the guts to come forward & offer him some decent roles.

At his peak Rajesh Khanna was 'simply the best' ...

I give 5 stars for this documentary. Keep up to another actors/actress like Dharmendra, Jeetendra , Shashi Kapoor ,Mumtaz, Sharmila Tagore, Waheeda Rehman, Nanda , Mala Sinha ,Hema Malini , Saira Banu and a great hindi film dancer Helen.

Thank you so much for this!! I can remember watching it as an 8 year old back in 1982 and i always wondered what happened to it, as the bbc were known for wiping their tapes after a while to save money!
