The round house kick is the most widely and diversely used technique in sparring. It is initiated by quickly rotating the upper body. The round house kick, like the front kick, can be divided into three stages. These are the initial rotation of the shoulders and then the tuck of the knee, extension of the leg and recovering. Attacking the face with a round house kick demands a high degree of strength and flexibility. The three stages of the round house kick can best be practiced using a partner for support. It is recommended that some form of support be utilized until the basic form of the kick is acquired. The fundamental motion of front and round are mechanically similar and once the basic execution has been mastered, a number of variations of the angle of an attack can naturally be made depending on the demands of the technical or fighting situation.

  • @Xquu15 TDK is Korean...

  • o yea, might just be me, but it's an instep kick...not karate roundhouse...=P

  • hahaa...I was that chunky kid when i stared about 12yrs old...but also flexible...good job lil dude!

  • @701765 I get what your saying, i have been training in TKD for to many years...lol..the force that turns starting at your shoulders pop's through your waist, the planted foot pivots at that time as well so the kick (release) has no resistance. If you have your foot planted, there is more of a chance that you "cross" your feet, and that can cause strain or even get hurt, believe me i know...but that pretty much how we get power from this kick..not to mention the fast, the more power you get...

  • !!!ouch i think i just popped my leg xD

  • I'm a brown belt and want to be a mater.
