On a dark and stormy night, a tale of cellular division is told using stop animation for our AP Biology class.

In case you didn't catch the overview/explanations, here they are again...

Interphase:
Cell grows, produces proteins, cytoplasm, and organelles.
Cell duplicates chromosomes and completes preparations for dividing in S and G2 phases, respectively.

Prophase:
Chromatin fibers condense into chromosomes, now visible under a LM and complete with kinetochores. Mitotic spindle begins to form, and centrosomes move apart.

Prometaphase:
Nuclear envelope fragments, some microtubules enter the nuclear-area and can now attach to the kinetochores.

Metaphase:
Centrosomes are now at opposite ends of the cell, and line up chromosomes across the imaginary plane of the "metaphase plate."

Anaphase:
Sister chromatids part suddenly into daughter chromosomes. Cell elongates as the microtubules lengthen and bring chromosomes to opposite ends of the cell.

Telophase:
Nuclear envelopes form around new daughter nuclei. Chromosomes begin to unwind, and mitosis is technically complete.

Cytokinesis:
Cleavage furrow forms in the middle of the cell, and splits the cell in two.
