An inquest has found that Ian Tomlinson was unlawfully killed by a police officer during the G20 protests in London. The jury said PC Simon Harwood used "excessive and unreasonable" force in hitting Mr Tomlinson with a baton and shoving him to the ground. They added the newspaper seller posed no threat. Sky's Home Affairs Correspondent Mark White reports.

Ian Tomlinson was the tragic victim of a coward. Harwood's behaviour was not untypical of this country's bog standard police. They assault people and get away with it time and time again. David Cameron once said the British police are the best in the world. If he is right I dread to think what the worst are like. Unless he means they are the best bullies, liars and cowards!

@mystphys When a person is thrown to the ground without provocation with such force that the body bounces when it hits the ground and then the person dies of trauma cannot be defended by any sane human being. You are not sane. Harwood has a history of uncontrollable rage.

@mystphys "acted in good faith"?? Striking a man with his baton then pushing him to the ground, for the crime of 'peacefully walking down the street' You're either drunk or insane.

the police will protect their own , pc harwood will get his hand slapped / pity they wont slap him as hard as he gives us - there was only victim in this video and if you look on you tube you will see it a bit clearer - the man only wanted to get home , this will happen again just pray its not you or your family that gets in their way next time

@mystphys so you feel sorry for PC Harwood ... wonder how you would feel if it had been your son - daughter - father - or neighbor a bit drunk just trying to get home and being treated in this manner , this is not even remotely rare , this happens all over the country and will carry on happening with good folks like you mrs Harwood , i have personally been on the recieving end of heavy handed poiice , ( just doing their duty - of course ) why worry he will not get charged anyway
