  • Had I been one of the DJ's sacked from Radio 1 in 1993,then a brick would have gone thru the windows of Egton House and into Matthew Bannisters head! He is a nob as is Trevor Dann.

  • DLT was a load of crap.

  • @AnthonyUK Don't listen to it then.

  • 3:20 - Matthew Bannister was spot on. If Bannister's brief was to chase audiences, then yes, it would deserve to be privatised. To maximise audience at all cost is what a commercial station should be quite rightly doing.

With Global taking their Capital FM brand national, Radio 1 has to step up and take risks. Capital's Ashley Tabor has every right to maximise audience for his next penthouse apartment. Andy Parfitt doesn't however; he's running a publicly-funded organisation.

  • moilsy and john peel were the best things that ever happened to r1, rip peel

  • Radio 1 today makes me want to slash my wrists!

  • Say what you like about Noel Edmonds (and I'm no fan overall), he does know what he's talking about, media-wise. Good analysis.

This was, of course, before his Deal or No Deal resurrection...

  • No talent sycophants R Us

  • whiley was never a dj
