At Central European University, Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt said that a Europe of "open societies and open economies" can act as a beacon for other nations aspiring to democratic standards. But he also warned that Europeans should keep their eyes on past mistakes of discrimination and intolerance during uncertain times.
