Charles Dickens' Masterpiece brilliantly produced by the Rank Organization~Cineguild. Just before Brief Encounter (1945), Cineguild accepted an invitation to join Rank's Independent Producers which meant their productions were underwritten by Rank but that they were also given remarkable creative freedom.

Brilliant Direction ! This is How to Make A Movie.
This Dickens novel - great as it is comes vividly to life here with unbelievable atmosphere and scene settings, the characters are amazingly developed starting with the the graveyard scene - Leave your comments please. Is this not what a movie is meant to be? This is how a book comes to life at the "cinematograph".
