Mecanum wheels are pretty darn cool. When you put them together with the correct software algorithm, you get a very unique drive mechanism. Our wheels are configured in a "tank" configuration. If you spin all four wheels forward, you get forward motion; similar for backward motion. However, if you spin two of the wheels inward towards one another and the other two outward away from one another, the robot drives sideways- or at a diagonal depending on the relative speed of the wheels.
