  • Yeah OPAR is a complete integration of Ayn Rand's philosophy and it has no fictional stories. It is my favorite book on objectivism.

  • Now now! Let's not denigrate OPAR in any way. I read it at 17 and found it riveting. I thought it was clear, concise and brilliant. And very readable. Compared to the eclectic nature of all of Rand's writings, OPAR is in a logical order all under one book cover.

I can't recommend OPAR highly enough!

  • I'm so jealous. I wish I were reading Atlas Shrugged for the first time.

  • I agree. OPAR is very advanced. I tried to read it at age 17 and, unlike Rand's fiction and articles, I found OPAR hard to get thru; the chapters on epistemology had me confused. I put it aside. At age 25, I read George H. Smith's "Atheism: The Case Against God." Then I decided to check out OPAR again, and it was much easier to understand that time around.

  • I would recommend delaying trying to read Leonard Peikoff's OBJECTIVISM: THE PHILOSOPHY OF AYN RAND (OPAR) until you have finished Rand's fiction and most of her non-fiction. OPAR is the complete statement of Rand's philosophy (other than Galt's speech in ATLAS).
