Le World Trade Center (abrégé WTC) était un complexe composé de sept immeubles d'affaires situé à Lower Manhattan, à New York City, dans l'État de New York aux États-Unis. Conçu par l'architecte Minoru Yamasaki et développé par le Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, il est inauguré le 4 avril 1973.
Marqué par un incendie le 13 février 1975 puis par un attentat à la bombe le 26 février 1993, le complexe est intégralement détruit par deux détournements d'avions le 11 septembre 2001. Surnommé depuis Ground zero (bien que les New-Yorkais préfèrent l'appellation World Trade Center site), le site est depuis en travaux, afin d'accueillir un mémorial et un nouveau complexe dont la One World Trade Center en sera la tour centrale.
Identifié par ses deux bâtiments les plus célèbres, les Twin Towers, il est un symbole de la puissance américaine aux yeux du monde entier et une icône de New York au même titre que l'Empire State Building et la Statue de la liberté.

Marked by fire February 13, 1975 followed by a bomb Feb. 26, 1993, the complex is completely destroyed by two hijacked planes Sept. 11, 2001. Nicknamed from Ground Zero (although New Yorkers prefer the name World Trade Center site), since the site is being renovated to host a memorial and a new complex including the One World Trade Center will be the central tower.
Identified by its two most famous buildings, the Twin Towers, it is a symbol of American power in the eyes of the world and an icon of New York as well as the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty.
