Iain Gray launches his campaign to be leader of Labour in the Scottish Parliament.

"Labour needs a fresh voice and a fresh start in Scotland. We need a leader who will demonstrate to people that Scottish Labour understands their lives, shares their concerns and is passionate about their hopes. We need a leader who unites all sections of the Labour movement whether in the Scottish Parliament, at Westminster or in councils and Party Branches across the country to work together to help Labour win in 2011. Most of all we need a leader who will hold Alex Salmond to account more effectively for his broken promises. That will be my priority as Leader.

My politics are straightforward. I believe that if you watch out for the person next to you they will watch out for you. I believe that pooling wealth in time of prosperity is an investment for everyone's future. I believe that raising standards of skill and education benefits us all, not just the individual. Above all I believe that we achieve more together than we ever can apart. These are the values which made our party great.

I am ready to fight for these Labour values. The last fifteen months have been hard but now is the time for fresh conviction and a fresh start. I ask for your support to lead the party to fight for a better Scotland. A fairer Scotland. A Labour Scotland."
