my truck after a few mods. Cat back 2.5" exhaust with super 44's and a K&N CAI. After installing the exhaust I went from 11.3 to 14.0 mpg, then installed the CAI and dropped back to 12.3? Weird I guess it's time for a chip to get better MPG. Sure hate chasing my tail on this. It does sound awesome though.

  • makes perfect sense you have to reset ur ECU and get a tune once you get an intake put it Get it tuned and You'll pick up that extra mileage and power

  • When I installed the CAI the instructions said to disconnect the neg. term. I thought this was purely for safety reasons and decided to omit this step as I wasn't working anywhere near the batt. and plus the neg. term. is in a tight spot to get to. I saw an article stating if you disconnect the neg. term. and then connect it later and start the motor the ECU will "relearn" itself. MAybe I need to do this to see any mpg gains? I'm gonna give it a try. Thanks for your comment

  • yeah that's exactly why you disconnect the negative, it resets the ECU so it learns with the intake

I'd still suggest a chip and getting it tuned though after that

  • not bad. Intakes usually kill the mpg, get a custom tune and it will go up some, along with getting a few more ponies out of the engine.
