have you noticed that hal sutton and many other pros and people spoke about hogan by calling him 'mr. hogan' because of how much respect they had for him? and here tiger woods calls him by his first name.. it just shows tiger's arrogance and how big his ego is.

You certainly can take it back with your right (hand, elbow, etc.) and make a valid swing. But yes, absolutely Hogan didn't do that (as I said earlier). If you understand the golf swing you should be able to do both, be able to explain the pros and cons, and be able to demonstrate.
