6) My opinion is to just take it for what it is - maybe not what it's intended to be. It really is just a portrayal of a group of W&M students who are trying to give back to their school. One Accord is having a lot of fun in the video, and whether or not that's relevant doesn't really matter. This experience looks undoubtedly positive for them and will be for other W&M students who'll watch this. If it doesn't make you want to reach for your checkbook, oh well. I wouldn't either.
5) On the other hand, coming from a student who is not so thrilled with William and Mary's value for its cost, I can understand the disappointment in not having a more professional-looking video. I know that it's being used to promote Homecoming and that many alumni will take it as a pathetic attempt for W&M to get more money.
4) Both of these categories aside, think of how many schedules had to be taken into account. If you're a William and Mary alumni, you must recall the hectic days- especially around midterms. This combined with the video crew's availability and the administration's appearances often makes things complicated.
3) Video-wise, there are shots in various places around campus. Equipment had to be transported around and potentially set up and broken down between locations. One Accord had to be arranged in various positions: lined up on Crim Dell bridge, sitting on Paul's Deli's stairs, et cetera. The whole presentation also had to be edited. This entails organizing clips, lining up audio, making titles/ credits, and using effects (which may or may not look cheesy.)
1) I understand both sides of this argument. However, I'm involved in both a cappella and video production on campus, and let me just say that none of this is as simple as it looks.
@cdiddy4242 I await your professional-size financial contribution to pay for real actors, production hours etc. The wmalumni page put this up because it is a quick, cheap student production promoting an event, and they are trying to help the young participants get some positive press in the community. Contact wmalumni, otherwise, I'd appreciate if you would respect that this is not meant to be a hollywood production, and nobody cares what the Earth or Wren looks like because we already know.
Reveley is such a badass.
