this is what i like to call "tuesday's inspiration." almost 80% of this vid was completed in one day, which -- if you know me at all -- is hugely in contrast to the agonizing months I usually spend on vids.
PLOT: picks up at the last few minutes of AWE. i always thought it would be extremely awkward for jack to drop off elizabeth to meet with will at their honeymooning island, so i decided to explore what jealousy issues he may have. he eventually takes off to leave will and elizabeth to their fun; however, as we know, will has to leave almost immediately. meanwhile, jack can't find peace anywhere because barbossa and the rest of the crew hold a mutiny. they dump jack off at the last place he'd want to be: elizabeth's island. furious, he storms past her upon his arrival and insults her as he lets it slip that being with her is like being back in the locker. elizabeth, equally ticked, drops the bomb that he's not the only one with problems: she has a two-year-old, and is raising him all by herself. floored, jack takes pity on her and agrees to stay with her to help take care of the child, at least until he can figure out his life. the temporary stay turns into several years, and jack becomes something of a surrogate father to young william and a husband to elizabeth, although he'd never let the two know how much he really cared. however, all fairy tales must come to an end: will returns as his eternal servitude is on pause for one day. both elizabeth and jack had forgotten, so, panicking, jack flees the island. even though he escaped without notice, young william spills the beans the minute will touches the shore. elizabeth comes clean with will and will leaves the island, much to elizabeth's dismay. meanwhile, jack is out in the middle of nowhere but realizes he no longer has a home except from where he's just left. so he turns his boat around.
song is "the bachelor & the bride" by the decemberists.
mini blurb from "moulin rouge"
absolutely no copyright infringement intended; i just do this for fun. most everything belongs to the mouse -- the rest to the decemberists. think of this as "fair use," not copyright.
due to popular demand, i'm also including a "director's commentary":
the quality of the vid is bad on purpose. this video is all about miscommunication and having unhealthy relationships: relationships that only go skin deep. for example, will and elizabeth's scenes are split up with images of jack not only to show how he's jealous of their love, but because he will always be a force inbetween them. also, will and elizabeth's scenes are smoother because they're conventional. jack and elizabeth's scenes are unpredictable and sometimes when you think it's about to get tender, a new clip interrupts the moment and lust overtakes true love. therefore, i kept the main effects of all clips in fuzzy contrasts and yellow tints because it just seems fake. the characters don't have sharp features; at times they almost look dead. the colors aren't bright because detail is looked over. it's the here and now that everyone's worried about.
p.s. a fic is being assembled to this vid. for teasers, send me a message.
