  • .... is this what heaven sounds like ???

  • Any one that can't understand this work should stay with their slush and trash music. Ms Te Kanawa has more vocal quality that 99 percent of the current singers today. It is a shame that within the next few years, that voice will be stilled for opera and general music lovers the world over. Not stilled because of death, but stilled because of retirement. After all, Dame Kiri has brought music to quite a number of "real music lovers) thoughout this planet and we are highly benefited.

  • She truly mastered singing, but I don't like that much and that wide vibratos. I'd love to hear some non vibrato notes in this composition.

  • @LoVeHaTeR257 I do agree... the sound of heaven's clouds, in a clear, bright morning...

  • i expected trololololo when i saw 'vocalise' in the title

  • I don't see the reason for real discussion! Each of music lovers have it"s own model for receiving concrete interpretation of any artist (singer or instrumental musician, never mind!), And so for emotions. Opera fans - most aggresive & clerical fans in the world, it's known for all. Suggest to agree, that any personal opinion is more talking about personal love choice to somebody interpretation (or artist person), than of absolute verity.

Hum? É simples!

  • @krasnod

  • @lover4bubblegum Agreed. Although "ah" is the only vowel (and maybe the "ah/oh" mix as well) that I can sing and still sound good on anything above high A :)

  • @willwei98 It starts in C-sharp minor, then goes through different keys before coming back to the starting key at the end :)

  • @fenderbassboy It is a solo accompanied by orchestra - the original version was for soprano solo with piano accompaniment, and the orchestration doesn't change the fact. Are you a singer? All good conductors I have seen always follow the singer. This piece is hard enough as it is without the singer passing out from having to follow the conductor. Try singing all the sustained, unending lines while not having time to breathe in between (which is what will happen with your suggestion).

  • @maiarho If for nothing else, stating that emotions have to start later makes me think you a fool. Music is about the emotions from start to end. And I would not scrutinize a vocalist of this level unless you are on the same level as them. I can agree that i am not the biggest fan of this rendition, but this is how 1 human being interpreted it. I personally can't see why you would scrutinize such beauty.
