Game Informer watches Martin O'Donnell, the Audio Director and Composer of Halo: Reach, as he scores the Halo: Reach trailer that was debuted at the Spike 2009 Video Game Awards. This video is in TRUE 720p high-definition. I have not modified this video from its source in any way, shape, or form to preserve its video quality. Enjoy!

  • martin my hero i love your music ♫♪

  • WOW

  • @TheKillerSpunge He is using Protools (8). To make this kind of music with samples you need a couple of good samplebanks (check out stuff by EWQL, Audiobro, Project Sam, Cinesamples etc.), and a working knowledge of music theory and production techniques... Acquired by study (reading, watching instruction video's, taking courses), trial and error, and practise practise practise... :)

  • Does anybody know what programs he is using here?/ Pro Tools etc. If anyone has knowledge about scoring/composing I would love to hear what is essential to make it. I have access to Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro, would very much like to create music for commercial use/games & media....

  • I love all of Marty O Donnells music on Halo especially Reach. It's amazing.

  • Veeeeeeolas?Don't you mean violas Marty?!

  • I hope he is there to make the soundtracks for Halo 4 too, despite Bungie's farewell. if not, I'm not going to enjoy it. There's something with the soundtracks that make the campaign worth playing. The music makes it an cinematic experience.

  • please make the new trilogy soundtrack
