I could be mistaken, but it always seems to me that my llamas understand a double- or multiple-syllable command far better than a single one. It could even be just my voice! I find this particularly important in llama cart-driving, where the verbal commands are of paramount importance( since hand ones are obviously not seen!) I say "Standing" rather than "Stand".
