A 10-year effort by University of Rhode Island scientist Terry Bradley to develop transgenic rainbow trout with enhanced muscle growth has yielded fish with what have been described as six-pack abs and muscular shoulders. This development could ultimately provide a boost to the aquaculture industry.

  • Thumbs if you came here from the GENETIC ARMAGEDDON video.

  • @yunged You are vastly mistaken if you think that cancer, polio and aids are "natural".

  • seriously guys stop commenting on other comments i have no idea whats hapenning and it sucks

  • @2naruto1 uhhh... yes there have shithead, you think i just got on here to make shit up. the studies were documented in at least 1 mainstream science journal, a magazine and on an australian science tv program. i notice you didnt actually answer my question, but rather chose an appeal to your own and your cohorts sense of intellectual superiority without explaining or detailing anything in any way at all. typical. and what exactly quantifies as "little risk"? 1% or 5% or 10% or what...?

  • @yunged well stop brow-beating people & using spurious, over-simplified arguments to legitimise a corporate agenda spruiking unproven (in terms of safety & efficacy) methods. from what you said i think it's obvious you think people should stop thinking & throw the precautionary principle to the wind & eat GM. once this "technology" becomes common the line between GM AND NON GM will be obliterated (contamination of non-GM crops has already occurred), thus impinging on people's right to choose...

  • @weirdcode1 when did i imply people shouldn't have a right not to? i was just commenting on the fact that most anti GM ideas are based on false assumptions and hearsay and that the idea that 'natural' things are necessarily better for you is demonstrably incorrect

  • @weirdcode1 there have been no such studies . If you understand that science behind GM you would understand why there is little risk .

  • @gordy930 so you can state with 100% certainty that myostatin inhibition has 1 & only1 effect? this is contrary to almost all biochemical & biomedical evidence, e.g. medicines have "side-effects"; i.e specificity is next to impossible in live organisms. & even if that is the only genetic difference there must logically be a biochemical difference in the fish itself & in the hypertrophied muscle tissue? can u state categorically that there's no health risk to consumers, be they animals or humans?

  • @MuscleBuildProdject genetic engineering in high school...? you are talking BULLSHIT! & if by some chance you're not lying, i still fail to understand how you at 15 years of age have the knowledge, expertise, qualifications etc etc to imply that this is 100% safe, & that everyone who questions it is "completely wrong"...?

  • @karamarouge perhaps. but the transgenic alteration of animal ( & plant) genetics creates variant proteins that have never existed before, & studies have already found that consumption of such proteins creates health problems

  • @yunged fine you eat the GM shit then! & ALLOW PEOPLE THEIR RIGHT NOT TO.

  • @gordy930 so then how could they be so beneficial to the global food supply as the guy in the vid claims?
