Amongst Women Only

Nikos Triandafullidis made this short documentary in 1991 as part of his course work as a film student at the London International Film School. It focuses on accusations of sexism against the singer Momus by NME writer Betty Page, and gets evidence pro or contra from other female figures in Momus' life. The film originally ended with a graphic castration scene, but the college requested the castration be, well, castrated!

Well there's a really intelligent response from - I assume, a feminist.Just what is the feminist problem with admitting that women are not feeble inferiors to men and traditional masculine ideals may be wrong? Momus is one of few men to treat women as women treat men. Feminists love the idea of women becoming like men. They hate the idea of men being equal to women. How many women want men to share their values instead of suppressing them to become as dehumanized as men?

Modern feminists are sexists. They start from a belief in women's inferiority to men based on their own sense of inadequacy that the majority of women - especially young women - long ago grew out of. They may claim the same name, but what feminists today really believe is all the traditional chivalrous protection of the weaker sex that equality lost them 40 years ago. Women can and do sing about men in just the same way but 'the girlies' need protection that equal women do not.
