@TheStanislavlem You make a good point, I agree. I want to add that the destruction of knowledge in competition with ones ideology doesn't seem to be limited to religious extremists. Far as I know, 'religion' seems to be a set of principles which people repeat based on years of our ancestors experiences, whether or not some ideas are based on superstitious fears. It's an on going process relative to current affairs, seemingly inseperable from human nature. At least from my current perspective...

@WilliamEGD this is the most sensible comment I have read all day. It is truly a relief to see that there are still openminded people in this generation. thank you.

No wonder Charles the Hammer won, Abdul Macran charges his horsemen uphill into a dug in wall of French spearmen at 9:05

@onebrandofdemocracy I don't mean to be offensive I'm just wondering why you say religion is a poison when religion is what united and preserved the light of knowledge of Europe in its darkest hour. Or how religion is the only light of hope in 3rd world places such as Liberia where people are eating each other to obtain magical powers.
Maybe religion is like everything else that can be used for good or bad purposes and those purposes are relative to certain circumstances? Just a thought
Peace

@WilliamEGD
Christian leaders horded anything that would support their theology on the other hand any other literal works were destroyed. Here are some examples: burning of the Library of Antioch, demolished and burned libraries of Aphrodisias, killing of Hypatia and burning of The Serapeum. Although I'm not saying that Christianity was the only reason for Dark Ages but they certainly were not interested in preserving ALL the knowledge only the one that coincided with their theology.
