  • I sure hope I'm not overextending my welcome, but as a longtime Strawbs fan I wanted to chime in Richard Hudson & Jon Ford pre- Strawbs were in "Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera".Mid period drummer Rod Coombs was in Juicy Lucy. Dave Lambert was in "Fire".John Hawken lives in my are :D Maybe of interest to you guys I hope. yep "Ghosts" is great, hell they all are! Good thing you have "Nomadness" on vinyl, the cd is a bad boot.

  • @GalaxyRover1020 We're in a groove here and all is very cool. Yes, all of that music is part of my life, Jeff's as well. Fire is real good. Are you saying that John Hawken lives near you? You have interesting neighbors. It's great to be making your acquaintance!

  • As a kid I had to do chores to earn my getting albums. Deep Purple were always one of my fave groups. So my dad was used to picking them up for me (Ian Gillian era I only knew as the MKII lineup was still going then). One day he showed up with Shades Of, The Book Of Taliesyn, The Best Of (Orig. Tetragrammaton + Scepter). I had no idea who Rod Evans, Nick Simper were (only 9) so I wrongfully dismissed them. Years later of course I realized they were fine records. MKII era still my fave though.

  • @GalaxyRover1020 Understandable as you discovered that version during the halcyon days of youth.

  • @dereckvon - I think when I got into Captain Beyond I had a new found respect for Rod Evans as a singer. Nick Simper was cool in Warhorse too. Also all those covers the Evans era Purple did were sometimes oft putting (Hush excluded).Back then they were going for the Vanilla Fudge style. In the end Blackmore & Paice, two of my favorite musicians.

  • @dereckvon - My pleasure as well. Yep John Hawken lives and works in my area.

I find out one day while reading my sun. paper. They did a little feature on him. I also just found out Kenny Aarronson lives about 15 min. away too.I'm near NYC so it makes sense I suppose.

  • My copy of "Futuristic Dragon" is a gatefold with a totally different cover on the "Marc On Wax" label. Cool album, remember seeing them perform "Dreamy Lady" on the cool 70's UK show "Supersonic". Aired in the states in the early 70's for a short while. He had some good players during those "lost" years. Miller Anderson,Herbie Flowers,Tony Newman.

  • Nice, I got several of the Mandrill Collectables Cds. My buddy is a big Dexter Gordon fan, I heard that one = great stuff. I have his one on Columbia "Manhattan Symphonie" which is good too. They misprinted the title on first pressings, that's the one I have.Annette Peacock! love her. Have her "I'm The One" (RCA) with the foil cover. Really liked her on Bruford's first album. 'Watt" orig. came with a poster too."Manhattan Symphonie". .

  • Cool vid.

  • Awesome stuff guys, keep it up!
