Here's a hyena at Police Meda, Harar, that thinks its a dog. Either that or it's pretending to be a dog... without success.

  • @2010anyway Wow if you really think any breed of dog, especially a mastiff, will kill a hyena then you truly have no idea what you're talking about. Hyenas have one of the strongest jaws in the world, they're physically stronger and have more stamina. A Mastiff would get destroyed by a full grown spotted hyena. Man you're dumb.

  • this hyena is not full grown...is not bigger than the dog

  • @turamba Full Grown spotted hyenas can weight up to 80-83kg and that one sure dont look anywere near 80kg

  • A dog chases a cat------- a hyena chases a buffalo.

  • normal dog bite force is 300 pounds of force and below and young hyenas 990+ pounds of force

  • @BlackATTAX It's not all jaw strength. Hyenas are selected to survive in their environment. Mastiffs were selected to grab and hold down larger animals, such as bears, or bulls. Or they were used for fighting other dogs. They had to be strong, yet nimble for their size. If they didn't get out of the way then they died. They've been bred to fight.

So don't automatically assume you're right and call the guy dumb. These dogs were selected over time to fight other animals.

Not necessarily. This town/village is famous for its symbiotic relationship with local hyena packs, including regularly feeding them (search for "hyena men"). They've been doing this for generations, and by this point they consider the village their "hunting grounds," to the point of guarding it against other predators. It's possible this hyena was just bored, and decided to go for a mid-day stroll. :)

  • @BlackATTAX You are right anyway...

  • hyenas see them dogs, SICKEM !

    dogs are rotten.

  • likely a young male hyena wandering in search of a new clan
