Land nav actually comes quite naturally to me, lol. I just got back from a month long Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Field Training (aka Navy Seabee shit) for the USNSCC. Nothing beats wargames and land nav out in the middle of fucking nowhere, Illinois. I was a FT and squad leader, a squad navigator, and ALPO for my platoon. LOTS of fun, lol.

Land nav. map and compass reading has been a hands on hobby of mine for decades. A skill only touched on by most Marines including infantry (former 0311) which is bad because not only does it save lives when your in a leadership pos and the azimuth and grid coordinates you calculate are accurate. It can take lives if you fail, because land nav sucks.
A mental and physically challenging acquired skill and Marines can really "discover" what they are made of when lost or disoriented.
