A native leaf-cutter bee (Megachile wheeleri) in our garden, Humboldt County, California. She prepares a brood chamber for a single egg and stocks it with pollen and leaf cuttings. She makes multiple trips to prepare each chamber -- with several chambers in each hole. This one has a hole under a hose in our garden. Also, I say that the male bee arrives, but I'm now not so sure -- could be some other bee species.
