How to jailbreak iOS 4.1, 4.0.1, 4.0.2, on iPod touch 2nd Gen. and iPhone 3G.

NOTE: 4.1 JAILBREAK HAS MORE BUGS THAN ALL PREVIOUS JAILBREAKS AND ALL JAILBREAKS HAVE BUGS, FAVORITE THIS VIDEO AND I WILL UPDATE THE REDSN0W LINKS TO NEWER VERSIONS WITH LESS BUGS WHEN THEY ARE AVALIBLE! ALSO IF YOU ATTEMPT THIS, IT IS AT YOUR OWN RISK, SO I CAN'T BE RESPONSIBLE IF YOU MESS UP!

You will be using Redsnow 0.9.6 (Beta) to jailbreak and Hacktivate your iphone 3G and/or iPod Touch 2nd generation.

This jailbreak can jailbreak any iPhone, iPad or iPod touch on 3.1.1 or earlyer but not MC iPod touches, you must use green pois0n for that. If you want an easier jailbreak for 3.1.3, 4.0 or 4.0.1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2FgPDTg9dA


The Written Tutorial:
1) Make a backup in iTunes incase it gos wrong!
2) Download your .ipsw from the link below and download Redsn0w for windows or mac.
3) Plug your iDevice in but turn it off and make sure iTunes is closed.
4) Run Redsn0w and browse for the .ipsw file. Select Next
5) Press Next
6) Put it into DFU mode the way it says to.
7) Watch it install the jailbreak but don't unplug it until it's finnished.
8) Reboot your iDevice

FAQ:
You might see Cydia icon as white icon. To cure this you will have to open Cydia and add source "http://apt.saurik.com/cydia-3.7" . Let it run for few minutes, then reboot iphone.

Lost phone utility, internet or now powering off? That can happen on the old redsn0w, I just updated the links, you need the ios .ipsw the same as the one on your iDevice in this new version of redsn0w, there should be no problems now?

Why did you suggest firmware 4.0 when your 3g is 4.1? Cydia likes that better for some reason, since I updated the link, to a newer version of Redsn0w, you don't need to worry, you can use either now (I recommend 4.1 as it worked fine for me when I was testing the new version).

No, this jailbreak does not work on 3GS or iPad or MC model touches, sorry!

If the .ipsw file is not recognized on redsn0w, its because the file format is not .ipsw on some browsers, you need to change the file extention, heres a how-to; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UTqdCh3Tc0 .

If It Gos Completely Wrong:
If you ever mess up, put the phone into DFU mode (it may get a blank screen) then restore it/ restore it from back up. If it doesn't lt you restore, go to settings then general then reset and erase all content and settings (on the iDevice) then try to sync it or DFU and sync it.

What iTunes do I need? version depends on your ios, 9.2+ for ios 4.0.0+.
