As the church bells rang 29 times- we knew it was the final end of the line. Now 29 miners are at Heavens gate, with dirty faces asking "Are we too late?" God said with a halfway grin " No my sons, come on in." They placed their mining lights on Heavens floor, God said "Job well done..leave your boots at the door. (In memory of the fallen UBB miners)

Currently am in Texas but return to WV to teach Mine Safety to new underground miners every quarter. Wouldnt trade it for any other job in the world. My Daddy mined for 50 years, My Son runs a roof bolter so the tradition continues. I worked underground before getting into Safety full time. I will always have coal in my blood! I do ALL I CAN HOME EVERYNIGHT TO THOSE THEY LOVE!

I love this song, I was born in Logan and my parents moved to Beckley when i was 4. I love and respect the unique and brave type of man it takes to get the job done. I live in Alabama now and i still think of WV as home. I visited the Eccles mine site about 15 years ago where 180 men died . The monument to them was grown up and unattended, no benches or flowers just like no one cares. I am sure the direct descendents of these men have passed but the town should clean it up . God love the miners.

I am blessed to live in the AMAZING state of West Virginia. I would not be happy anywhere but here. We are all about loving the ones who love us, keeping the land right, and fighting for whats right. My father and brother are coal miners. I have many men in my community who are just like family, who are coal miners. Coal mining is what keeps this small town USA going. Mason County, WV is home. Theres no state nor people as WV. God bless all coal miners, we love you<3(:

I work in a hole in WV every day. UBB was a catastrophe we will never forget. Coal pays the bills, but rockdust saves the lives. The only people that knows what happened in there that day are the ones that were in there. I hope we can prevent this from happening again. oh yeah, BTW MSHA District 4: Unless you want a bunch of coal miners dying from silicosis, you need to let us run our SCRUBBERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My uncle Greg was in the UBB coal mine disaster. I mourn every day for the loss of my uncle. I love and miss him so much.
I grew up on the High Plains of Oklahoma and Texas where there are no mines. . . or mountains or trees, but my mother is from Eastern Kentucky. My granddad went into the mines before he was 18 and came out for the last time over 40 years later. He spent the last 15 years of his life on oxygen before dying a terrible death from Black Lung.

@bronco602 Hate to hear that, My father has black lung as well. He worked all his live in those coal mines and provided for his family he worked harder than any many I have ever come across in my whole life... Coal IS an important industry. It is a hard job, that has to be done. These men choose to work this job.
