HoustonPBS UH Moment: The Daily Cougar, A UH Tradition

Established in 1934, the University of Houston's student-run newspaper, The Daily Cougar, is as old as the university.

Any UH student can become a Daily Cougar reporter, and all of the editorial decision are made by students. It's editorial board often puts in 40 hours a week at the paper in addition to their class schedules, but the experience the students gain is invaluable and often gives them a competitive edge in the job market.

The paper attracts up to 100,000 visitors a month to its website and earned a 2011 Online Pacemaker Award from the Associated College Press.
