  • I agree with you. I am the same way, I could never try an experiment like this.

  • @Polyglot1990 I would certainly never do it again!

  • Your suffering for science is appreciated! I think youre right that you're probably not going to learn anything new while asleep but that some consolidation takes place. Myself, I listen to russian radio while asleep so im hearing words spoken that i've studied during the day. I think it helps me retain what i've learned, but I definitely wouldn't try a recording and hope to magically learn words i've never encountered before...

  • It seemed to me that you were looking forward a miracle.

  • thank you

  • @syzygycc you only sleep 6 half hours a day! Thats insane......

  • I believe it does work, but i dont think ur brain absorbs everything, and beside, during the sleep, u re using ur subconscious, and mb thats why u wont know everything imediatly, so if its complemented with daily study during the day, the night study might help, ofc dont expect it works after 3 days, it would be just ridiculous, considering the % of brain u use

  • The brain does filter outside information while asleep (for example, waking you up when the alarm clock rings), but I agree with your empirical conclusion -- it's not proven to work for language learning. It could be interesting to see the results of a long-term scientific study. To isolate only the sleep phase would require a monitor to automatically turn on and off the audio when you are awake, since before falling asleep the brain is suspectible to real learning.

  • @Mandalearn

Yes, and it could cause marital problems as well!

  • Nice video :-) I tried doing the same about a week ago and I realized I cannot fall asleep with audio in the background so eventually I had to turn it off.
