All this circumvention wouldn't be necessary if the pig-headed religious nuts weren't needlessly protesting a helpful science. The truth is, if stem cell cures became a widely accepted form of medicine, people might start reconsidering the definition of life, which is something the church absolutely doesn't want.

People ARE being treated today - using their own stem cells, including T1 diabetes, regeneration, and making organs (see my vids, & ClinicalTrials*dot*gov). The cancer issue is fixed by now. These stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells, iPS, are 'the future of stem cell research' and '100x more interesting' according to the 'fathers of stem cell research', Sir M. Evans, I. Wilmut, J. Gearhart, and J. Thompson - who officially declared the field of human embryonic stem cells ended.
