It is already on youtube, and I wouldn't like to duplicate videos. Here's the link:

  • looks like he's in pain...

  • Yeah, I thought so, too. But my husband told me he's just acting insanely agitated. Listen to the other recording of him doing the same aria (it's among related videos); it's completely different. He can do it without suffocating. Besides, look at the faces between 1:25 and 1:45. Clearly, this man's nuts.

  • hahahaha! He does look scary, huh?

  • Absolutely. His acting is superb, in all the scenes.

  • This aria is marked by Mozart "As fast as possible" and, half way through, it says "faster"!

Unfortunately, the conductor, Nicolaus Harnoncourt, usually a dependable musician, took Mozart's little joke literally and had poor Mr. Gilfrey sing way too fast. He did OK under the circumstances. But any observations as to Gilfrey's facial expressions, etc. should take this into account.

The dialog was done in a very original way, at least in my experience.

  • orrendo .

  • @spyridon77 Well, depends :) Nicolai Ghiaurov has done that very nicely - to say the least, that is.

  • @Ted10038 Yeah, very true comment. At least Don Giovanni was a baritone. I dont wanna think how bad the situation would be if Don was a bass and the poor one had to sing like that fast.....

  • Perfect Rodney Gilfry and fantastic Leporello from Hungary László Polgár. One of my best Leporello. Genial connection.

  • @anzolettilino giusto,purtroppo questa é una triste realtà...

  • @bodiloto più che orrendo!

  • @bodiloto bravo!

  • @palcika1 thx a lot :)
