if you use headphones, you can plug them in only partway and it may play audio in both phones.

Download the video from nptel site and set audio setting in vlc media player to mono on tool bar at top that will solve your audio problem.

Thank you for sharing us these lecture notes. However you are not teaching at all, you are simply reading to us the notes. I hope you could improve your teaching method to make student think more rather than just listening.
