I love this take, even with Steve missing a line and a few clunkers from the backing band.
If anyone has the Zevon version, I would really like to see it posted as I have never heard it. It's just a brilliant song, and as you may know, generally pretty much unlike most of Warren's songwriting in that it's a straight ahead love song....though with some brilliant structure to it.

Warren was an awesome songwriter who, unfortunately liked to drink to excess. Steve does his memory well with this rendition, even if he does have more hair on his chin than his head!

Maybe Allison likes the homeless look! There must be a reason for it as he clearly stated once he didn't like it when he had to do it for The Wire. When he cut it all off last year after recording The Wire, he looked so much fresher and younger! Yes, i know its all about the music and who cares what he looks like, but he does look a bit odd...
